Helping Denver Metro K–3 Students Become Confident Readers

Evidence-based literacy instruction using the IMSE Orton-Gillingham approach — available in person in Edgewater or through engaging virtual tutoring sessions for students anywhere

Mrs. Schumacher

Hi! I’m Mariah, and I’m passionate about helping your children grow in confidence and skill. I hold a Master’s Degree in Reading and have spent the past 11 years working with elementary students as a first grade teacher, literacy intervention lead, English language development (ELD) teacher, and assistant principal.

I am licensed in K-6 elementary education and K-12 reading instruction. These experiences have helped me understand that every child learns to read in their own unique way — and that the right support can make all the difference.

I am trained in Orton-Gillingham–based IMSE multisensory instruction, a research-based approach that builds strong foundational reading and spelling skills, especially for K–3 students and children with dyslexia or other reading challenges. I offer personalized in-person tutoring at the Edgewater Library in Edgewater, Colorado, as well as virtual reading tutoring for students nationwide. Together, we’ll help your child grow into a confident, successful reader who feels motivated by their progress.

In her years with us as a teacher here at Pinnacle Charter School, Ms. Schumacher was an outstanding literacy teacher who took each student’s individual needs into account. She is an incredibly caring teacher, and provides clear, evidence-based instruction for students of all abilities. I recommend her without reservation for any student needing support with literacy skills!
